On behalf of the Organizing Committee, I am honored to welcome you to attend the 2014 International Conference on High Voltage Engineering and Application (ICHVE 2014), which is organized jointly by Poznan University of Technology – Poland, Mississippi State University – USA and Chongqing University – China. The ICHVE 2014 will be supported by Polish National Grid (Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne S.A.), Local Distribution Company (ENEA Operator) and Association of Polish Electrical Engineers (SEP). The ICHVE will be held in Poznan, Poland on September 8-11, 2014.
ICHVE 2014 will be the fourth conference in this successful series. The conference started at Chongqing, China in 2008 and was reconvened at New Orleans, USA in 2010 and once more in China at Shanghai in 2012. This conference has attracted more attentions from world-wide high voltage researchers. We hope that this conference can not only provide an excellent platform to share knowledge and experiences on high voltage engineering, but also will give the possibility to present the newest achievements in power engineering.
Poznan University of Technology (PUT) grew out of the State School of Engineering which was established in 1919. Currently PUT offers education at 10 faculties, which altogether provide 28 fields of study. There are almost 25 thousand students studying at the Bachelor and Master levels, PhD, and postgraduate studies. Poznan University of Technology constitutes an important center of scientific research too. From year to year, the share in the resources allocated for research is bigger and bigger. The academic staff is its strong point. Their scientific research and publications constitute an important input to modern technical sciences.
Poznan, the capital of Wielkopolska region, is the birthplace of the state of Poland. In the Archicathedral Basilica of St. Peter and Paul Cathedral in Poznan, there are buried Mieszko I and Boleslaw Chrobry – the first rulers of our country. The exhibitions organized at Poznan International Fair are visited by thousands of guests from all over the world every year. Poznan is an important academic center. There are 8 state universities and at these universities and academies, there are almost 150 thousand students, therefore we call Poznan – the Academic city.
